This coming Sunday, 3 October 2010, Dr. Gaither will be honored as one of the recipients of the Fannie Lou Hamer Award. The award honors the contributions of women in the Annapolis community for their dedication and efforts in working with the community. The awards were named after civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer who worked tirelessly for the civil rights and voting rights during the 1960s including helping the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and working to desgregate the Mississippi Democratic Party. During the awards ceremony, Dr. Gaither along with five other award recipients will be commended for their commitment to their communities and their work to improve the lives of those around them.
If you are interested in attending, tickets are still available. Please see the event information below. Congratulations Dr. Gaither on your well deserved award!
